State Establishment "Luhansk State Medical University" (SE "LSMU") is a center of education, science and culture in Luhansk region with unique integrated continuous training of specialists at three levels: premedical, undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The academic staff considers constant improvement of educational quality to be the main task corresponding to present requirements. The University has all conditions for training of scientific and pedagogical staff of higher qualification – Doctors and Candidates (PhD) of Sciences. Our qualified tutors help to master extremely difficult, responsible but infinitely grateful specialty at 4 faculties of medical university (medical, pharmaceutical, stomatologycal and post-graduate studies faculties).
Our University is a higher educational institution of the 4th accreditation level with the integrated continuous training of specialists at premedical, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Premedical level includes preparatory course the main goal of which is the language training and studying of general education disciplines.
Undergraduate studies include training in such specialties as general medicine, pediatrics, stomatology, pharmacy.
Postgraduate studies include internship, PhD courses, clinical fellowship and specialization.
The organization of academic process due to credit modular system includes 360 ECTS credits, which are accumulated during 6 years of study for general medicine, pediatrics and 300 ECTS credits (5 years) for stomatology and pharmacy. One academic year lasts 40 weeks and includes 60 credits (1 week - 1,5 ECTS credits).
1 ECTS credit corresponds to 30 academic hours. The academic year includes 1,800 academic hours. The total academic load includes the time for lectures, practical, seminar and laboratorial classes, consultations, practices, independent and individual work, as well as control measures.
Forms for organization of academic process
Lecture is the main form of conducting training sessions for learning theoretical material with the use of scientific achievements, methodically directs and defines the basic content of all training sessions.
Practical trainings are the form of classes where theoretical principles of discipline are in details examined, skills and practical experience of their practical usage through student’s performance of various tasks are formed.
Laboratory classes are the form of classes, where students widen their theoretical knowledge in the discipline, master the methodology of conducting research and experiments, and conduct them on their own under the guidance of a tutor, acquire practical experience of working with laboratory equipment, computers, etc.
Seminars are the form of training sessions, in which the tutor organizes the discussion around certain previously learned topics, to which students prepare theses of their performances, based on individual assignments (essays, summaries, etc.). Thus, students gain skills of written and oral interpreting the materials, writing essays, the ability to disrupt and defend scientific position and conclusions.
Attending the lectures, practical and laboratory trainings, seminars in the amount of academic hours, provided by Core curriculum is mandatory for students.
Consultations are the training session, in which the student receives answers from the teacher to specific questions or explain certain theoretical positions or aspects of their practical application. The Departments conduct current and pre-examination consultations.
Individual tasks are patient histories, papers, calculations and drawings, which are given to students for carrying out during the terms, provided by course schedule of the subjects; individual tasks are performed by the student independently with tutor’s consultation.
The student has the opportunity to individualize learning process by studying selective or elective courses, mastering one of which is an annual requirement of the curriculum. Individual work of student is carried out during the period, free from academic classes. The form and content of independent work are determined by the working program on academic discipline, the procedure for its fulfillment is regulated by methodical directions to students.
Independent work is aimed at the mastery of learning material by student, involves their active cognitive activity, obtaining new knowledge from textbooks, manuals, books, etc., independent problem’s solving, acquiring skills of self-control.
The University has all conditions for students' all-round development with lecture halls, laboratories, computer classrooms, gyms. There are student canteens in each academic building.
SE "LSMU" gives special attention to the organizations of students’ everyday life and leisure. The departments provide a variety of activities for the development of highly educated, cultural, conscious, socially active and spiritual personality of students and the promoting of healthy lifestyle. Students can join different clubs, both scientific and recreational, social organizations, associations and communities, as well as take part in a number of social, national, cultural and artistic activities and amateur performances. Sports facilities give wide opportunities for students to go in for sports. Students of the University take part in championships and get prize awards.
The students can be comfortably accommodated in the students’ hostel. Nowadays, almost all interested students have an opportunity to live in the hostel.

Education and Accommodation
LSMU has well developed infrastructure which include block for administration, block for class rooms, library, scientific laboratory, canteen for students, sports halls, there are indoor football and other indoor games, health facilities, hostel. The university has Faculty of Foreign Students, Premedical department and International department which is responsible for providing invitation letters, admission process, registration process and consider some other problems of foreign students.

Hostel arrangement
The students of the SE «Luhansk State Medical University» can be comfortably accommodated in the modern hostel of European level. The total area of the five-storey hostel is 4383.9 sq. m. Each year, about 350 students live in 128 well-furnished double or triple rooms of the hostel.
Living conditions are supplied with 16 kitchens, laundries with modern equipment and facilities, shower rooms, washrooms and toilets.
