YEVHEN LEVITIN Position: Professor, Department Academic Degree: Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Academic Title: Professor ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0422-3610 Yevgen Levitin is a renowned Ukrainian scientist in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, professor, and founder of a research field focused on the use of magnetic fluids in medicine. In 1969, he enrolled at the Kharkiv Pharmaceutical Institute, graduating with honors in 1974. From 1975 to 1978, he pursued graduate studies in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. In 1980, he defended his Ph.D. thesis in the specialty 15.00.02—Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy—on the topic “Synthesis, Structure, and Biological Activity of 7-Nitro- and 7-Aminoacridines.” After defending his dissertation, his research interests expanded—his studies focused on acridine derivatives and intermediates for their synthesis. This work resulted in a preparative method for synthesizing N-phenylanthranilic acids and the creation of the drug analben, which demonstrated high analgesic and anti- inflammatory activity. In 1982, Yevgen Levitin was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor, and in 1994, he became head of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the National University of Pharmacy. Under his leadership, a new magnetically controlled radiopaque agent was developed, which exceeds traditional analogues in terms of effectiveness, as well as an ointment with magnetite and a method of treating purulent-inflammatory processes, which shortens the recovery period. The magnetically controlled soft dosage form he created for use in otorhinolaryngology increased the effectiveness of conservative treatment of inflammatory diseases of the pharynx and tonsils. The scientist is actively engaged in the implementation of scientific developments in practice. He created technical conditions for medical magnetite, which made it possible to start the development of magnetic drugs in Ukraine, as well as analytical regulatory documentation for highly dispersed barium hexaferrite for the further creation of new radiopaque drugs. In 2004, Yevgen Levitin defended his doctoral thesis on the topic «Synthesis and biological activity of derivatives of halobenzoic acids and acridines created on their basis», and in 2005 he was awarded the academic title of professor.
